Define what the space needs to do
Explain how your staff and customers use the premises today and what needs to change. A useful brief connects the building work with practical requirements such as movement, storage, reception or the use of different rooms.
Bring the right people into the conversation
Identify the person making decisions for the business and the people responsible for the property. Share available plans and relevant requirements with the project team so that responsibilities can be discussed early.
Discuss access and operating hours
Tell the builder when the premises are busiest and which areas are essential to daily operations. The scope and site conditions will determine what arrangements are practical. Do not assume the business can operate normally throughout the work.
Coordinate deliveries and selections
Joinery, equipment, flooring and other finishes may come from different suppliers. A shared list of selections and delivery information helps the team coordinate their part of the project.
Plan the handover
Discuss what your team will need before using the renovated space. Keep an agreed list of outstanding items and ask how product and care information will be provided.
